Not surprising since his mom is still very sick. My guess is he never comes over. Time to move on. Way to close Garth. Can somebody post the video of Alec Baldwin talking about closing in Glengarry glen ross?? Awesome movie and awesome scene

Dee this post makes you look completely uneducated.

Two factors came into this:

1). KHL Salary = $1 million+ and plane rides.
NHL Salary = Under $75k in AHL with bus rides and under $1 million in NHL per ELC rules

He probably wasn't going to make the NHL right away, knowing he'd have to transition to the NA game and smaller rink.

2). Would he rather be in the USA, 1000's of miles away from his ill mother or be home and close to her?

So now its clear why he slipped into the 3rd rd. This is what the other NHL GM's feared. (no not his mothers illness) Fear that he'll never make to North America. If it wasnt family issues. Would it have been something else? Guess we'll never know but when do we call this a wasted 3rd rd pick?
I have to believe the 3rd rd is a substantial pick!

I guess there is a very slim chance that he reconsiders in a couple of years.

Yup but they had I think at least 2 if not 3 3rd rd picks so I guess it was worth the shot

the guy is 22...if he signs for a year or 2 and comes when hes 24/25 its not the end of the world either... if he came now would he have been playing for the isles this coming season? prob not, so what does it really matter exactly?

That might be the most reasonable offer I've seen. Not sure I'd do it though.

I'm really starting to like Yakupov

continued from last blog:

"I will bang Kate Upton before these guys sign with any other team than their current one: Lidstrom, Brodeur, Selanne

Totally Unrealistic: Parise, Suter, Doan

Reaches: Semin, Wideman, Carle, Jackman, Penner, Hudler

Realistic Quality Signings: Boyes, O. Jokinen, David Jones, Burish, Chris Kelly, Stempniak, Foster, Souray, Hunwick, O'Brien, Torrey Mitchell, Dominic Moore, Gregory Campbell (probably re-signing w/ Boston)

Ok, so maybe I didn't follow exactly what you asked but I think that is my best shot at a realistic and objective list of our options. Not all are personally guys that I want/love/hate/anything else, but I think they are guys that play the type of game that would address deficiencies in our lineup."

How do you know he won't play in the KHL? I bet a lot of teams have talked about that internally. That's why Ryan Murray is the safe choice.

hahahah thats like someone telling you in 2009 that the isles should draft duchene over JT....even that isnt the same....at least in 2009 it could even be a thought that MAYBE 3 players could go #1...this year its #1 yakupov #2 yakupov #3 everyone else.

All three would be interesting but I think the one you might get is Andy Sutton.

F-ing ridiculous. Some part of me thinks that if he was drafted by a better franchise, his mother's illness wouldn't have prevented Petrov from coming to North America this coming season.

Why isn't he there already? He only goes back to the KHL if he isn't good enough in the NHL. It's rare that a good player making good money is going to jump ship to the KHL.

i happen to like tootoo on the same line with JT and moulson (ideally trade for someone with more scoring ability). i still think another top 6 guy is needed after that but JT needs some muscle that will stand up for him and can also put up points as well.
